I usually go to Wendy’s for lunch. It’s good to get out of the office and I really like Wendy’s. I usually have a Spicy Chicken sandwich or, to mix it up a bit, a Single with Cheese and Everything, Deluxe.
Well the other day I decided to mix it up with a Single with Cheese and Everything, Deluxe. That, in its self, is nothing out standing. I usually get one a couple times a week.
But as I was eating it, as I was biting down into that luscious burger, and the myriad of flavors were exploding in my mouth I thought to my self ”how could anybody eat this any other way”!
What I mean is when the tangy-ness of the pickle, the sweetness of the ketchup, the spiciness of the mustard, the bite of the onion, the crispness of the lettuce, the earthiness of the tomato and cheese, and the smooth mellowness of the mayonnaise all combine with the ground beef in a symphony of flavors, it is a real treat for the mouth, brain, and stomach.
As I sat there and savored all the goodness that the burger was bestowing on me I thought back to my brother who only puts ketchup on his burger. Or the multiple times I sent out a plain burger to some poor misguided patron. I wondered what exactly is wrong with those people.
How can you miss out on this mixture of perfectly balanced flavors? You know, both Jimmy Buffet and I can’t be wrong. I’m not sure if my taste buds where super sensitive that day or If I was really hungry.
But I felt a real melancholy for those people out there who have not tasted the joy of a Single with Cheese and Everything Deluxe.
OK, so now you got me going, I remember when Wendys first hit Las Vegas, where I USED to live, it was EVERY nite, “Double Cheese, Extra Cheese, No Onions, No Mustard”, everything else was on the burger. I can honestly say that I haven’t actually eaten fast food for about 15 years now but every now and then I crave THAT burger. (and this is one of those times LOL) I now live in a rural area and the nearest Wendys is about 30 miles, I just might have to take the drive. Love your site and the picture above makes me VERY hungry !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
p.s. I love your rendetion of the taste of the burger and I also don’t understand those that ONLY eat a burger with just ketchup 🙂
