Well I’m still recovering from my Uvulaectomy. The recovery time is about 2 weeks longer then they lead me to believe. I think the worst part was the Vicodin. I was taking the max dose every four hours for about 10 days. It took 2 days just to come out of that fog.
One of the things I was craving while I was on my liquid diet of Ensure and chicken broth was my all time favorite snack/comfort food. It’s quick, simple and delicious. That would be Peanut Butter and Grape Jelly on Toast! Homemade Wholewheat toast if you have it.
I didn’t, so I stopped buy the store and bought this great loaf of Italian bread. Not wholewheat but very hearty and it smelled great!
So lets get started, you will need:
2 Slices of some great bread
2 Tbls Quality Peanut Butter
2 Tbls Grape Jelly or Jam
One reason I went for the Italian bread was that it was un-sliced. I like a nice thick slice of toast. Slice off two nice 1 1/4 inch slices and place in your favorite toasting machine.
Once they get a nice golden brown pull them from the toaster and slather on the peanut butter.
The tablspoon measurement is an approximation. Just keep putting it on till it looks right to you.
I do the peanut butter on each slice, don’t ask me why, thats just how I roll.
Next apply the grape jelly. Once more the measure is an apoproximation. Do it till it seems right to you.
Then consume your master piece with a tall glass of milk or some cool water to wash it down. Be prepared to get a little messy.
I hope you’re fully mended soon! Your toasting technique sounds great.
If you are ever interested in making your own grape jelly take a look at how messy it is: my grape jelly post.
I’m doing much better, thanks. The doctor told me 5 to 10 day recovery time, it’s more like two to three weeks.
Yeah I can imagine. Grapes are always very messy. They are very good at making everything purple. My mom used to take us picking grapes and blueberry’s, but she quit because the new clothes were too expensive.
